Current edition
The current public research website has no reader accounts, advertising pixels, newsletter database, payment system, or affiliate tracking scripts. Some guides contain clearly marked external affiliate links, explained below. Google Analytics is optional and loads only after you accept it. The website is hosted through OpenAI Sites on Cloudflare-compatible infrastructure. The hosting layer can process ordinary request and security data such as an IP address, requested path, browser or device headers, timestamps, and delivery or abuse signals needed to operate and protect the service. Haven & Signal does not use hosting information for advertising or reader profiling.
The Family Tech Finder and family worksheets keep answers in temporary browser memory. We do not send those answers to Google Analytics or intentionally store them on a server. Reloading the page clears worksheet entries.
Videos hosted on this site
Our dedicated video pages play copies hosted on Haven & Signal. Their player, poster and English caption files are available without connecting to YouTube. Videos do not autoplay, and the player is instructed not to preload the video file. Your browser requests media from our hosting infrastructure when needed for playback; the ordinary hosting request information described above applies.
Playing a video does not enable Google Analytics. You can read the transcript without playing it. A link to YouTube remains optional and opens that separate service.
Optional YouTube videos
Some guides include Haven & Signal videos hosted on YouTube. Until you select Load video, we show a thumbnail hosted on our own site and do not load the YouTube player. Loading a video is separate from your Analytics preference and does not enable Google Analytics.
When you choose Load video, your browser connects to YouTube using its privacy-enhanced embed domain, youtube-nocookie.com. Google receives connection information, including your IP address and browser or device information, and processes playback under its own policies. Privacy-enhanced mode is not anonymous playback or a promise that no information is processed. Choose Close video player or leave the page to stop loading that player; this does not undo information already sent. Your video choice is not saved for future visits.
You can read the transcript and full guide without loading a player. A Watch on YouTube link takes you to YouTube, where its own privacy settings apply. See YouTube’s embed options and Google’s privacy policy.
Local worksheets
Some optional worksheets have spaces for names, contact details, addresses, and family arrangements so you can prepare a useful printed plan. Those entries stay in the current page and are not sent to our server or Analytics. Printing or saving a PDF creates a copy that you control; store it securely. Do not enter passwords, access codes, medical records, or information you would not want visible to someone using your device.
Optional Google Analytics
With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, to understand visits, useful pages, broad traffic sources and general use of our family tools. The service receives page paths and titles, referring website origins, timestamps, browser/device information, and pseudonymous cookie identifiers. Google necessarily receives connection information, including an IP address; Google describes different IP-handling rules by region and uses connection data for service operation and broad geographic reporting. This is not anonymous browsing.
Our integration removes query strings and URL fragments from page locations and sends only the origin of referring URLs. Automatic form, search, download, video, scroll, and outbound-link measurement is disabled. Our tools can send general actions such as starting a tool, displaying a result, opening a result resource or requesting a print. These events do not include answers, the selected task or support situation, checklist marks, form entries, quote amounts, or the destination resource. Displaying a result does not mean the real-world task is complete; requesting a print does not confirm that a copy was made. The three guided practices can record starting and reaching the final step. The Resources page can record a PDF download request. These events contain no phone choice, step, filename or personal entries. Reaching the final step does not verify a change on the phone, and a download request does not confirm a saved file. Google Signals and advertising personalization are not used. We do not send names, email addresses, diagnoses, or worksheet answers.
Our basis for this optional measurement is your consent. Before acceptance, the site does not load the Google tag or send analytics requests. Reject optional leaves analytics off. Use Privacy choices in the footer to withdraw consent at any time; this stops our collection and clears this site's Google Analytics cookies without clearing your unfinished worksheet. Withdrawal does not undo processing that took place before you withdrew.
Your accept or reject preference is valid for 180 days. We keep the choice and its expiry date in local browser storage. Expired choices are ignored and removed when the site next checks them; the record can remain on a device until that check or until you clear site data. If accepted, the _ga and _ga_98R25DMBLD cookies are configured for up to 60 days, without extending their expiry on each visit. User/event-level retention in Analytics is set to two months, without resetting it for new activity. Aggregated reporting can remain available longer. Browser settings or clearing site data may remove your choice earlier.
Google may process information outside your country. See Google's privacy policy and Google Analytics data safeguards. Choosing not to accept analytics avoids this optional transfer.
Affiliate links
Two guides include clearly marked links to Medihill and Dragon Touch through the Awin affiliate network. We may earn a commission on a qualifying purchase. Reading a guide does not load an Awin script or pixel. When you choose an affiliate link, your browser navigates through Awin to the merchant. Those services receive connection information, such as an IP address and browser information, and may use cookies or similar identifiers to attribute a purchase under their own policies. We do not add worksheet answers or personal entries to these links.
Privacy choices controls this site’s optional Google Analytics; it does not control processing by an external service after you follow a link. You can instead open a merchant directly using the ordinary links in Sources and further reading. We do not sell personal information or send Family Tech Finder answers to commercial partners.
Security and retention
Haven & Signal uses HTTPS, a restrictive content policy, framing protection, and limited browser permissions. Infrastructure-level log retention and security processing are controlled by the hosting provider under its service terms. Editorial and privacy correspondence is accessed by the publisher and kept only as needed to handle the request and any applicable recordkeeping obligations. Please do not include confidential family information in email.
Your rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive a copy of personal information, to object to certain processing, and to complain to a competent privacy authority. Contact the publisher below to make a request. We may need limited information to verify and locate the relevant records; we cannot reliably identify a particular Analytics visitor from a name or email because we do not send those identifiers to Analytics.
