Why we exist

Families deserve something between a product brochure and a panic-driven search.

H

Haven & Signal exists for the moment when a family realizes that an everyday routine has become a source of uncertainty. The instinct is often to buy more technology. Our job is to help people slow the decision down just enough to choose well.

We organize guidance around real situations such as getting help, remembering a routine, opening the door, and staying connected. Families do not experience their lives as product categories.

“Useful support should protect independence, not quietly replace it.”

The founding principles

What will not change as we grow.

01

Dignity before data

Collecting more information is not automatically more caring. We look for the smallest signal that meaningfully helps.

02

Habits before features

The product must fit the person's real routine, including charging, hearing, dexterity, and willingness to wear it.

03

The whole response

Detection is only the beginning. We explain who receives an alert, what they need to know, and how help can reach the home.

04

Commerce with boundaries

Affiliate relationships may fund testing, but they cannot purchase a score, badge, ranking, or favorable omission.

Built for both sides

For the person living at home and the people who care about them.

We write to adult children, partners, siblings, friends, and other family caregivers. But the older adult is never an object in our work. Their goals, consent, comfort, and voice remain central to the decision.

Who is accountable

The person behind Haven & Signal.

Founder and responsible publisher

André Ribeiro

Haven & Signal was founded by André Ribeiro, a nomadic founder who was based in Belgium while his parents and parents-in-law lived independently in Brazil. The publication grew from the practical work of staying connected, planning ahead, and supporting family well across distance.

Haven & Signal Research Desk is our publication attribution. André Ribeiro is the responsible publisher. Personal editorial and review credits appear on guides only for completed work.

André brings lived experience as a son and son-in-law supporting family from another country. He does not present that experience as a clinical or professional caregiving credential.
